Napoli to lower Osimhen asking price again

Image
Napoli may have to once again lower their asking price for their striker Victor Osimhen, as no clubs have yet made an approach for the Nigerian despite the club’s hopes to sell him this summer, PUNCH Sports Extra reports. Napoli are prepared to cash in on Osimhen this summer despite being their leading top scorer for the past two seasons, including in the Scudetto-winning 2022/23 campaign. Back in December, the 25-year-old penned a new deal with Napoli running until the summer of 2026, a deal which has a release clause believed to be in the region of €120m–€130m. Napoli have been anticipating offers from the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain; however, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, no official approaches have yet been made. That could be a problem longer-term for Napoli and new coach Antonio Conte, who may be relying on Osimhen’s sale in order to bring in a number of other transfer targets this summer, including a possible deal for Chelsea-owned strike

Arne Slot looks set to be tasked with overcoming two tricky situations this summer at Liverpool due to the Olympic Games. Wataru Endo is among those who hope to be granted permission by Liverpool to compete at the Olympics, though he recently revealed that the situation is yet to be resolved and he is still in the dark on the matter. Asked by ABEMA Sports Time whether he will be involved in the Paris Games, Endo said: “I’m also kind of wondering what will happen. Nothing has been decided yet. But my stance is that if I’m selected, I’d like to go.” According to This Is Anfield, those in Endo’s camp expect their client to be granted permission to travel to Paris – though that could spell bad news

Klopp-Guardiola rivalry made me join Liverpool, says Slot

Views Liverpool manager Arne Slot says Jurgen Klopp’s rivalry with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola persuaded him to join the club. Slot was announced as Klopp’s successor in May following the German’s decision to step down. Klopp won one Premier League title during his nine years at Anfield but finished second behind Guardiola’s City by a point on two occasions, while City also beat the Reds in the 2016 EFL Cup final. Slot, who rejected interest from the Premier League in 2023 when he was linked with Tottenham, says the competition between the two managers replaced Real Madrid-Barcelona as the biggest rivalry in Europe. “I think for everyone who loves football it was a fantastic era to watch the both of them getting the best out of each other,” the Dutchman told Liverpool’s website. “Liverpool came along and – like I just told you about the rivalry between City and Liverpool and the many games we as football fans saw – it wasn’t a difficult choice to make.” The 45-year-old spent t
