Liverpool’s first bid for player rejected – Agent plans meeting with club as transfer heats up

Valencia have rejected Liverpool’s first offer for Giorgi Mamardashvili, with a meeting now planned between the Spanish side and the player’s agent.

That’s according to El Chiringuito, who report that Valencia have made it clear that they’re open to Liverpool returning with a second, higher bid.

Reports throughout today have indicated Liverpool were gearing up to make a bid for Giorgi Mamardashvili at some point in the near future.

The Reds have reportedly eyed the goalkeeper as a long-term replacement for Alisson, with a plan in place to buy him now and get him adapted to life in the Premier League before the Brazilian departs at some point in the coming years.

El Chiringuito now report that Liverpool have made a first bid for the goalkeeper but that has been rejected by Valencia.

They don’t share how much the bid was, or how the deal was made up, just that Valencia have rejected it at this moment in time. The Spanish side have made it clear, though, that they are open to the Reds returning with an offer of ‘around €40m’.

There is now a meeting planned between Mamardashvili’s agent and Valencia, presumably to discuss the matter and come to an understanding.

It was reported earlier today that Mamardashvili had made it clear Liverpool would be appealing to him, so it’s easy to imagine he’s keen on the deal and potentially wants to set up an agreement with Valencia now that Liverpool are bidding for him.
