' How often did it happen'- Jurgen klopp granted his wish for Liverpool but it's too late.

Jurgen Klopp has always been vocal about FA Cup replays and he might have finally gotten his wish, though it appears to have come too late for the departing Liverpool boss.

Jurgen Klopp has FA Cup wish granted but it's too late

The impact Jurgen Klopp has had on English football is obvious.

A man who will go down as a legend at Anfield, the Liverpool manager's intense style of play has raised the bar in the Premier League and beyond, according to Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou, at least. Speaking in a news conference on September, Postecoglou said: "Jurgen is an outstanding manager, he's one the managers I think it's fair to say who has made an impact on the competition, not just his club. Because when he came in, with the way Liverpool went about things, he challenged quite a few of the conventions about the Premier League and introduced a new style of play that others have followed. It's a great test for where we are at the moment in terms of our development.

"From when Jurgen came to the league and the way they set up, just the tempo and intensity with which they played. Both offensively and defensively, it was at another level. The Premier League has always been a fairly high tempo league but I thought they took it to another level. At times, it looked almost chaotic but you could see there was a plan behind it. It is very hard to cope with."

But Klopp's influence is now set to go even further, with the Liverpool manager finally having been granted his wish for FA Cup third and fourth-round replays will no longer take place.

The Football Association are under pressure to limit their schedule following the expansion of European competitions. The new format will see teams in the Champions League and Europa League increase from 32 to 36 from next season, meaning that teams will play a minimum of 10 games.

At the start of 2023, the Liverpool boss, Klopp, made a plea for the FA Cup replays to be scrapped. He said: "The lifelines for small clubs cannot be massive problems for clubs who play every three days. We cannot solve all the problems by playing more games.

"How often did it happen that a smaller club came through because of this extra game? I know there is money involved and that's how it is but you have to find solutions. Nobody wants to kill the smaller clubs; they have exactly the same right for existence as all of us."

The move will be controversial as replays are a huge money spinner for clubs in lower leagues. Replays have always been a part of the FA Cup and used to exist in every round, including the final.

Last season, fifth-tier Wrexham earned a replay against second-tier Sheffield United following a 3-3 draw in their third-round clash. Both games were broadcast live.

Fifth-round replays were given the axe in 2018 and it is now preferred for ties to be decided using extra-time and penalties. Although the FA are yet to officially announce the move, it is believed a decision has already been made.

Changes could be implemented in 2025 ahead of a new TV deal. For Klopp though, the changes will come in too late as the legendary Liverpool boss looks set to depart English football for good this summer.
