EPL Team of the 2023/2024 season: Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Everton stars all feature

Manchester City have won the Premier League for the fourth consecutive season after a thrilling title race with Arsenal, and earlier, Liverpool. The championship was decided only on the final day.

Arsenal finished second, Liverpool came in third, and Aston Villa secured the final Champions League spot.

At the bottom of the table, Luton Town, Burnley, and Sheffield United all return to the English Championship after just one season in the Premier League.

Which players stood out the most across the league?

GK: Jordan Pickford (Everton)

Despite Everton’s financial issues, Jordan Pickford has been a reliable and steady presence. He finished as the runner-up for the Golden Glove with 13 clean sheets, helping Everton achieve the fourth-best defense in the league, conceding just 51 goals.

RB: Ben White (Arsenal)

Arsenal faced a challenge when new signing Jurrien Timber was injured early in the season and Takehiro Tomiyasu struggled with fitness. Ben White stepped up, providing stability and strong performances at right back throughout the campaign.

Despite a lack of depth at right-back, Arsenal have remained solid thanks to Ben White’s consistency. The 26-year-old contributed to eight goals and missed just two games, ensuring the Gunners' defense stayed strong.

CB: William Saliba (Arsenal)

William Saliba, named in the Premier League Team of the Year during his debut season, has arguably improved even more this year. The 23-year-old played every minute of Arsenal’s league campaign, helping them mount a strong title challenge and improve their defensive record.

CB: Gabriel Magalhães (Arsenal)

Arsenal’s impressive record of just 29 goals conceded owes much to Gabriel Magalhães. His strong defensive play and threat from corners, scoring four goals, have made him one of the top-scoring defenders in the league.

LB: Josko Gvardiol (Manchester City)

Manchester City’s defense has been solid, conceding only five more goals than Arsenal. Josko Gvardiol, despite a slow start after his €90 million transfer, ended the season strong with four goals in five games, justifying his hefty price tag.

CM: Declan Rice (Arsenal)

Declan Rice has been a transformative addition to Arsenal since his €116 million move from West Ham. With seven goals and eight assists, he has elevated his game and is a contender for the Premier League Player of the Season award.

CM: Rodri (Manchester City)

Rodri is not only the most irreplaceable player for Manchester City but also arguably the most indispensable player in the entire Premier League. While Declan Rice has been excellent for Arsenal, Rodri stands out as the best holding midfielder in the league and perhaps the world. He excels at breaking up attacks, rarely loses possession, and is tactically and defensively perfect.

AMC: Cole Palmer (Chelsea)

Cole Palmer struggled for game time at Manchester City, prompting his move to Chelsea last summer for €47 million. Initially questioned, this transfer proved wise as Palmer became a key player for Chelsea, leading the league in goal contributions and earning the Premier League Young Player of the Year award.

AMC: Phil Foden (Manchester City)

Phil Foden elevated his game in the 2023-24 season, earning the Premier League Player of the Season title. He was a vital creative and goalscoring force for Manchester City, contributing 19 goals and eight assists, helping them secure another Premier League title.

FC: Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)

Aston Villa secured a historic spot in the Champions League for the first time in over 40 years, largely thanks to Ollie Watkins. He scored 19 goals this season, all from open play, establishing himself as one of the league's top strikers.

FC: Erling Haaland (Manchester City)

Despite facing criticism, with some comparing him to a League 2 player, Erling Haaland proved his doubters wrong. He ended the season as the Premier League's top scorer with 27 goals, leading Manchester City to another league title.
