A busy summer awaits for Liverpool, and it's arguably the most important in the club's recent history.
The Reds will have new head coach Arne Slot at the helm when he officially takes over from Jurgen Klopp on June 1. Work will already be underway from the Anfield hierarchy for their plans for Slot's first summer transfer window in charge.
Richard Hughes is working in his first summer as Liverpool's new sporting director. He will be alongside Michael Edwards who was appointed as Fenway Sports Group's CEO of football earlier this year, as the Reds embark on the first season of the post-Klopp era.
Liverpool will already have an idea of what they want to accomplish during the upcoming summer transfer window. Here, the ECHO takes a look at what may be considered a 'dream' scenario to be presented to the Reds when the window closes in a few months.
New contracts for important trio
Even though transfer windows are famously centred around new signings, Liverpool may have other priorities this summer.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are all out of contract in 12 months. As a result, speculation is continuing to ramp up about the futures of the trio, who all have a case to be considered one of Liverpool's most important players.
It remains to be seen what Liverpool will have planned for the contracts of Salah, Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk. Were all three to sign extensions before the start of the season, that would certainly help towards the perfect start for the Slot era at Anfield.
Centre-backs signed
Liverpool played the majority of the campaign with just three senior centre-backs after Joel Matip's season-ending knee injury. Now Matip will depart on a free transfer, meaning the Reds may need reinforcements this summer.
Van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah remain the only centre-back options at the club. Quansah just completed his first season with the first team and looks set to play a key role in the club's future after an impressive campaign, while Gomez spent the majority of the season at full-back.
Most of the transfer rumours with Liverpool in recent months have been about new defenders Players such as Willian Pacho, Goncalo Inacio, Antonio Silva, Piero Hincapie and Leny Yoro are just some of the names to be linked with a move to Anfield - the signing of one, if not two, of these players would go a long way to boosting the squad depth and quality this summer.
Mohamed Salah successor
As long as Salah's contract situation remains unresolved, there will always be speculation the Egyptian could leave Anfield. Even if the Reds were to agree on an extension to keep Salah at the club beyond 2025, there may already be conversations about what may happen when the forward does leave Merseyside.
As a result, Liverpool may be wise to look at signing a new right winger this summer with a view to being Salah's long-term successor in years to come. PSV Eindhoven's Johan Bakayoko is one player to be linked with a move to Anfield this summer, but the reality is that Liverpool are likely to have a lengthy list of potential targets that are being considered.
